Last night I went for drinks at the Kahmann Gallery in Amsterdam. The drinks were in honor of Harper’s Bazaar fashion magazine, which is set to launch in The Netherlands in September of this year. Harper’s Bazaar (which is published by the Hearst corporation) started back in 1867 (!!!) as one of the first fashion magazines ever. With their monthly issue, Harper’s Bazaar manages to reach women from all over the world, who are the first to buy the best, from casual clothing to couture. Cécile Narinx (Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar NL) bid all a warm welcome and officially opened the event by raising her glass to us!
When the Kahmann Gallery learned that Harper’s Bazaar was set to come to The Netherlands, it felt like serendipity. The Kahmann Gallery was already planning to do an exposition with New York as the main subject, and it just so happens that the Harper’s Bazaar HQ is based in New York. Together they worked on a spectacular collaboration, which is now shown in the ‘New York, New York’ exhibition.
Expect to see photos of all the icons that made Harper’s Bazaar such a great success; leading Dutch models who covered the magazine all over the world, the kids edition (which I didn’t even know the existence of) and even the very first cover that was used for this prominent magazine.
Date: June 27th – 29th
Opening hours: 1 – 5 pm
1015 KB Amsterdam
