Skin Calming Primer SPF 20 by Colorescience PRO

About six months ago cosmetics company Colorescience introduced their make up brand to The Netherlands. Colorescience originated in the USA where Diana Ranger (also known as ‘the mother of mineral make up’) founded this brand; which is highly popular amongst celebrities and make up artists in America, 13 years ago. Colorescience brought color and science together to create the ultimate cosmetics brand which aims to really focus on skin care.

So, for this article I am reviewing the Colorescience PRO Skin Calming Primer. I’ve been testing it for a few months now to see if it’s really worth its price.

The packaging of the primer looks pretty sober. The bottle is pearl colored and is as big as the palm of my hand. It contains 30 ml of skin calming primer which you can easily apply by pushing the pump.

Colorescience’s primers come in different shades to match your skintone. It contains cucumber and cactus extracts to hydrate, sooth and cover up redness and irritation. It also claims to be packed with powerful antioxidants to achieve a calm complexion. Next to all these great features, another great addition is that the primer contains SPF20 to protect your skin from sunburn.

My first impression of the Skin Calming Primer, was that it felt very creamy and even had a velvety kind of feel when applying it to the skin. Because of the creamy substance I decided to apply it with my fingers. It immediately created a smooth surface and covered up all the red areas and noticeable pores. It also worked great as a moisturizer, as it really felt like it hydrated my face. While hydrating, it made my face glow naturally, but leaving it to look matte. The primer ended up being a perfect base for my daily make up routine and definitely allowed my make up to go on smoothly. As a matter of fact, my make up actually stayed on for hours and hours.

The verdict

I am highly recommending this product to anyone who is in need of a great product that really works! It is the perfect base for your make up routine, and I can assure you that it will not disappoint you at all! Concerning the price, it’s not a very affordable primer (around 60 euros per bottle), but definitely worth it. The bottle contains enough to last for months, so if you look at it that way, it actually isn’t that expensive anymore.
